Psychometric test for BBC

A spot of design for auntie

Building on the success of the Diagonal Thinking project, V-On was asked to build and host an online testing system for new BBC recruitment candidates. The system is designed to test both the linear and lateral thinking capabilities of applicants. In my capacity as a freelance creative director often working with V-On, I designed and developed the front-end of the tool in accordance with the BBC's brand guidelines.

A great thing about working with the BBC's brand guidelines is there is not too much room for error and even since this tool was pushed live, there has been a fantastic review of the BBC website's branding which I think will serve as a blueprint for many other sites out there. If you are interested check out the fantastic entry on the BBC Internet Blog.

V-On is a digital agency that has a core team in London and then builds collaborative teams of experienced professionals on a per-project basis, a bit like the film industry. In this way the teams tackle large-scale projects and only have the perfect people for the job. I often work with V-On in my role as Creative Director and digital consultant. If you are interested in finding out more about V-On for a large digital project either contact me or visit their site.

3D product renders for new products

Currently all of the products for Smart Graffiti are undergoing an overhaul for cross-market production but they needed product images for sales.

Because of the requirement differences across the globe, the product labels designed by their in-house designers, change frequently. This means that it is impossible to get product photography done right now, and so Smart Graffiti asked me if I could develop some virtually created images.

Rather than just trying to Photoshop a label onto the different shaped products, I have used a combination of Photoshop and 3D modelling to create a standardised bottle shape based on the European bottle shape and did the same for the dispenser. This way it is now far easier for me to simply run off a render for each new label as and when it comes out, than to have to re-photograph each product, along with the logistical problem of transporting chemicals in the post!
